Travel - Digital infrared in Oslo

May 31, 2017

Using an infrared 720 filter on the front of my Olympus OMD-EM1 digital camera, I am able to capture near infrared images, and edit these in Adobe Lightroom to create my final desired effect. Using ISO2000 in bright sunlight I can generally hand-hold my shots, but using a tripod helps to bring the ISO lower and get a better quality final output. The images the camera captures are red, with what seems like very little detail, however a little bit of processing in Adobe Lightroom, and the images come to life. I've created a couple of different presets in Adobe Lightroom to do the initial processing, and then edit the images individually from there.

Infrared Oslo, Norway – May 2017

With the sun not setting until well after 10pm, I went for an after dinner walk around the neighbourhood I was staying in. There was enough light even at this time of the day to hand-hold all of my shots (albeit having to hold the camera as still as I could with the shutter speeds getting as low as 1/30th or lower).
